Inspect high-stress areas
Review the zipper, snaps, cuffs, pockets, seams, hood attachment and visible lining. Photos can reveal missing parts or obvious damage, but they cannot prove warmth, waterproofing or long-term performance.
Estimate volume before consolidation
Padded outerwear can produce high dimensional weight. Use warehouse dimensions when available and compare packing methods without assuming maximum compression is safe for the material or hardware.
